Obama Judge Limits Use Of Riot Control Tools In Anti-ICE Protests

A federal judge has moved to significantly restrict how law enforcement handles protests in Illinois, issuing a ruling that limits the use of tear gas and other crowd-control measures during demonstrations tied to immigration enforcement.

Judge Sara Ellis, appointed during the presidency of Barack Obama, approved a temporary restraining order that prevents federal agents from breaking up crowds in public spaces unless there are urgent or emergency conditions. Under the ruling, officers are barred from using tools like tear gas, flash-bang grenades, and less-lethal weapons unless there is a clear and immediate threat to safety.
