Tehran Lays Out Three Demands to Halt Tensions With the U.S. and Israel

Iran Sets Three Conditions for Ending Conflict With the U.S. and Israel

Tensions in the Middle East remain high as Iran’s president has outlined three key demands that he says are necessary to bring the ongoing conflict to an end.

On March 12, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian posted a statement on the social media platform X explaining that Iran would only consider halting hostilities if several major conditions are met. According to the president, the United States and Israel must recognize Iran’s legitimate rights, compensate the country for damages caused during the conflict, and provide firm international guarantees that similar attacks will not occur in the future.

Pezeshkian said he had recently discussed the situation with leaders from Russia and Pakistan, reaffirming Iran’s stated commitment to stability and peace across the Middle East. However, he argued that the current conflict was triggered by military actions from the United States and Israel, making those countries responsible for addressing Iran’s demands.

This marks the first time Pezeshkian has publicly laid out specific conditions for ending the 12-day confrontation involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
